Syntax: leave + O + O.C (adj./ V-ing/ p.p.)

1. leave + sb/sth + V-ing
eq.
a. Who has left the water rumming.
b. Turn off the faucet. Don't leave the water running.



According the definition of Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English.
1 LET SOMETHING/SOMEBODY STAY: [T always + adverb/preposition] to
make or allow something or someone to stay in a place when you
go away
